About: Dr. Richard Frankel earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at New York College of Podiatric Medicine, where he graduated Cum Laude in 1984. Following his medical degree, Dr. Frankel completed his residency at Peninsula Hospital in Far Rockaway, NY. During this time, he was appointed the Chief Podiatric Resident.
In 1987, Dr. Frankel established his own private practice in New York City which he had for 30 years. While providing excellent patient care and continuing to expand his reputation, he was appointed Director of Podiatric Medical Education, and Co-Chair of the Division of Podiatry at NY Downtown Hospital. In 2004, he was appointed Director of Podiatric Medical Education and the Division Chief of Podiatry at Beth Israel Medical Center in NYC.
After enjoying much success in NYC, Dr Frankel decided to make his “weekend residence” in Rhinebeck, his full time home. He moved to the Hudson Valley permanently, and continued his Podiatry career here as well.
In 2023, Dr Frankel joined Sims & Associates Podiatry. His years of experience in Podiatric medicine, surgical expertise, wound care and limb salvage skills, and biomechanics and orthotics proficiency, make him another valuable addition to our team of clinicians.
Dr Frankel is Board Certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is also Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
He maintains a close supportive and professional relationship with Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, where he practices at the Wound Center, regularly consults on in-patients, trains medical residents, and is an active member of the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Frankel resides in Rhinebeck with his wife and dog. In his free time, he volunteers as Vice Chair of Foundation Committee at Northern Dutchess Hospital. He also is an avid tennis player and outdoor enthusiast.
